12/5 - Attachment in the Playroom (Certificate or CE) In-Person or Live Webinar Option

Friday 5th                 9:30 - 4:30 pm       6 Hours         Content: 4 Hours Skills and Methods / 2 Hours Special Topics

         Attachment is the foundation in which healthy relationships, positive sense of self, and overall healthy well being rests. Children who develop insecure attachment patterns have a higher risk of participating in unhealthy habits or unhealthy relationships that can be harmful. Participants will explore the world of Attachment in Play Therapy through the theoretical lense of Adlerian play therapy to create change for children who demonstrate insecure attachment patterns. 

Objectives:
  1. Participants will describe the four foundations of attachment.
  2. Participants will identify the four attachment styles.
  3. Participants will discuss the rationale for implementing Attachment in Play Therapy interventions with children in the playroom struggling with an insecure attachment. 
  4. Participants will describe 3 impacts that divorce, death/loss, and family separation can have on a child's attachment to others. 
  5. Participants will describe 3 impacts that trauma, neglect, and emotional abuse can have on a child's attachment to others. 
  6. Participants will demonstrate 3 attachment focused techniques (rooted in Adlerian play therapy model) that can be implemented in the playroom.

12/12- Into the Woods! Sandtray with Trauma (Certificate or CE) In-Person

        The world of sandtray therapy can hold healing for many who have experienced adverse childhood events or other forms of trauma. The cognitive distance created by sandtray therapy can allow many individuals to process unspeakable events. Join us for this one day training as we explore the benefits of sandtray therapy and techniques that can be utilized with this special population.

Objectives:

  1. Participants will discuss the impacts of trauma on the developing brain.
  2. Participants will identify three benefits of sandtray therapy for clients who have experienced trauma.
  3. Participants will describe three sandtray techniques for children 4-8 who have experienced trauma.
  4. Participants will describe three sandtray techniques for children 9-18 who have experienced trauma.
  5. Participants will describe three sandtray techniques for adults who have experienced trauma.. 
  6. Participants will demonstrate sandtray skills through role playing in the experiential portion of the training.

12/13 - Sexual Abuse in the Playroom (CE) In-Person

          Childhood sexual abuse is an issue that effects children of all backgrounds, yet many play therapists may not feel competent enough to support children with these experiences. It is important to learn the signs of sexual reactivity behaviors in the playroom, as well as implementing play-based interventions to help children heal from their traumatic experiences. This workshop will explore the use of historical and seminal theories such as Child-Centered Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Play Therapy, Theraplay and Gestalt Play Therapy to address the traumatic effects of childhood sexual abuse in children of all ages. Attendees will also explore the trauma of domestic sex trafficking and key items in the playroom to support the healing process in children who have experienced sexual abuse. In this training participants will:

Objectives:
  1. List signs of sexual reactivity in play therapy sessions.
  2. Identify sexual reactivity behaviors in the playroom.
  3. Describe play-based interventions to promote healthy boundaries in play therapy sessions.
  4. Discuss play-based interventions to support children who have experienced sexual abuse.
  5. Assess key items to include in the playroom when working with children who have experienced sexual abuse.
  6. Compare the use of seminal and historical play therapy seminal theories to support children who have experienced sexual abuse.

1/9 - Posttraumatic Play; Is it Dynamic or Toxic? (CE) In-Person or Live Webinar Option

         Posttraumatic play can be daunting for many therapists. Understanding the power of posttraumatic play and knowing how to facilitate it in a play therapy session is key for treatment. This workshop focuses on evaluating posttraumatic play, recognizing toxic posttraumatic play, and intervening when the play becomes toxic for a child client.

Objectives:
  1. Participants will explain the different trauma types and the role of the therapist in posttraumatic play.
  2. Participants will describe three benefits of posttraumatic play within the context of play therapy.
  3. Participants will describe three ways of identifying posttraumatic play within the context of play therapy
  4. Participants will describe three ways of evaluating posttraumatic play within the context of play therapy.
  5. Participants will list three warning signs of when posttraumatic play becomes toxic within a play therapy session.
  6. Participants will demonstrate intervention skills that help transition child clients out of toxic posttraumatic play within a play therapy session.

Non-Contact Library

        Finding time to attend trainings for continuing education or play therapy training can be difficult. Select from our non-contact book certificates to complete training hours on your own time and at your own pace. Participants are responsible for purchasing the book of their choice.           In this recorded training, the participant will learn how CCPT is presented in the playroom and with parents.

Objectives: 
  1. Participants will analyze Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) and how to be grounded in the theory as a Play Therapist
  2. Participants will analyze the core principles of CCPT through role play.
  3. Participants will describe CCPT play therapy skills. 
  4. Participants will discuss how to explain CCPT ideals used in the Playroom with caregivers. 
  5. Participants will discuss what aspects of CCPT they identify with. . 
  6. Participants will analyze 2 case studies and apply CCPT core principals from the playroom.

​Cancellation and Refund Policy

Cancellations must be emailed, [email protected], at least 5 business days prior to training. Attendee has the option to transfer credit to another Playhouse training or accept a refund minus a cancellation fee of $25. 
Cancellations made less than 5 business days prior to training, are eligible for transferable credit to a Playhouse training of similar value. No refunds will be available. All refunds, minus the $25 cancellation fee, will be mailed 30 days after request.  
Should the presenter need to cancel training for emergency or inclement weather, participants will be notified via email, as soon as possible. Training will be rescheduled for a later date, in the event the subsequent date does not conform to the participant’s schedule, a full refund or credit (for future training) will be given.
