Understanding the Adlerian phases and framework of an Adlerian treatment plan greatly aids the Adlerian play therapist in facilitating change in the playroom with clients. Participants will explore the four Adlerian phases of play therapy, learning to identify what comprises each distinctive phase. Participants will also learn the skill of developing an Adlerian treatment plan to aid in guiding the four phases of Adlerian play therapy.

Early childhood is the foundation upon which the rest of a child’s life is shaped. Despite this fact, many play therapists are hesitant to work with the 2-5 crowd as they tend to have big feelings and even bigger behaviors, leaving most adults at a loss on how to help. In this training participants will be equipped with play therapy skills, strategies, and interventions specifically designed to help alleviate behaviors in early childhood through an Adlerian play therapy lens. In addition, clinicians will learn ways to provide support to caregivers.

- Participants will identify three Adlerian play therapy skills that are effective for early childhood.
- Participants will describe three play therapy interventions that decrease common behaviors seen in early childhood.

This workshop will explore the use of historical and seminal theories such as Child-Centered Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Play Therapy, Theraplay and Gestalt Play Therapy to address the traumatic effects of childhood sexual abuse in children of all ages. Attendees will also explore the trauma of domestic sex trafficking and key items in the playroom to support the healing process in children who have experienced sexual abuse. Cancellations made less than 5 business days prior to training, are eligible for transferable credit to a Playhouse training of similar value. No refunds will be available. All refunds, minus the $25 cancellation fee, will be mailed 30 days after request.
Should the presenter need to cancel training for emergency or inclement weather, participants will be notified via email, as soon as possible. Training will be rescheduled for a later date, in the event the subsequent date does not conform to the participant’s schedule, a full refund or credit (for future training) will be given.
