5/2  - "GG". Utilizing Board Games as a Therapeutic Intervention in Play Therapy (CE Training) In-Person

        In this training, participants will explore the therapeutic uses of board games through a Gestalt Play Therapy lens. They will have the opportunity to engage with a variety of commonly accessed games (e.g., Uno, Candy Land, Kerplunk, Trouble, etc.) and reflect on how these interventions can be beneficial to the Play Therapy process. This applies to participants applying Play Therapy or play techniques and who work with school-aged children (6) to adults.

Objectives:
  1.  Participants will be able to define Gestalt therapy and how it applies to play therapy.
  2. Participants will be able to name three board/card games that can be used in play therapy and describe how they can be applied.
  3. Participants will be able to identify ethical considerations when using games in play therapy and discuss how to address them.

5/9  - Play Therapy in Early Childhood (Certificate or CE Training) In-Person

            Early childhood is the foundation upon which the rest of a child’s life is shaped. Despite this fact, many play therapists are hesitant to work with the 2-5 crowd as they tend to have big feelings and even bigger behaviors, leaving most adults at a loss on how to help. In this training participants will be equipped with play therapy skills, strategies, and interventions specifically designed to help alleviate behaviors in early childhood through an Adlerian play therapy lens. In addition, clinicians will learn ways to provide support to caregivers. 

Objectives:
  1. Participants will identify three play therapy skills that are effective for early childhood.
  2. Participants will describe three play therapy strategies that are effective for early childhood.
  3. Participants will describe metacommunication and how it can help young child clients gain insight into behaviors and make changes. 
  4. Participants will discuss the importance and level of involvement of caregivers in the therapeutic process for young child clients. 
  5. Participants will describe three ways to help strengthen the parent-child bond. 
  6. Participants will identify three parenting strategies that are effective for young child clients.

​Cancellation and Refund Policy

Cancellations must be emailed, [email protected], at least 5 business days prior to training. Attendee has the option to transfer credit to another Playhouse training or accept a refund minus a cancellation fee of $25. 
Cancellations made less than 5 business days prior to training, are eligible for transferable credit to a Playhouse training of similar value. No refunds will be available. All refunds, minus the $25 cancellation fee, will be mailed 30 days after request.  
Should the presenter need to cancel training for emergency or inclement weather, participants will be notified via email, as soon as possible. Training will be rescheduled for a later date, in the event the subsequent date does not conform to the participant’s schedule, a full refund or credit (for future training) will be given.
