           Let's get creative! Bringing fun, creative and expressive interventions into the playroom can help the client with self-expression, catharsis and accessing the unconscious. Creative expressive interventions can express where words fail, particularly with child clients who have limited verbalizations. Join us as we dive into expressions without words!

7/10 - A Creative Perspective on How to Deal with Professional Burnout  (CE or Program) Live Webinar or In-Person

          Now more than ever, play therapists’ skills are in high demand, and we give until….well… until we physically and mentally cannot. Play therapists are great at helping others focus on themselves, but we are not the best to listen to our own advice. Let’s change that. This workshop will provide play therapists with current research on burnout and fatigue and creative/expressive interventions for self-care. The main objectives of this workshop: relax and have a little fun.

7/10 - Beyond the Playroom: Theme Analysis & Social Justice in CCPT (CE or Program) Live Webinar or In-Person

This final module explores advanced clinical interpretation and advocacy. Participants will utilize the 20 Therapeutic Powers of Play to evaluate how play fosters emotional wellness and increases personal strengths for children experiencing systemic oppression. We will examine how repetitive Play Themes (such as Power/Control or Abandonment) are influenced by the child's cultural context and systemic inequities.

Objectives:
  1. Analyze repetitive play therapy themes by evaluating how a child's cultural context, including experiences of privilege or oppression, influences the repetition, intensity, and context of their play.
  2. Discuss how cultural variables impact the 20 Therapeutic Powers of Play, specifically focusing on how play facilitates communication and fosters emotional wellness in play therapy.
  3. Formulate a plan to integrate "Social Justice in Action" into a play therapy practice through advocacy, public policy influence, and restorative justice practices.

         This 3-hour session grounds the clinician in the "being" of the play therapy relationship. Participants will explore the intersection of Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) and cultural humility, examining how the therapist's own "Intersectionality" affects the Play Therapy  relationship. We will move into practical playroom curation, focusing on selecting toys in the three essential CCPT categories—Real-life, Aggressive-Release, and Creative Expressive—to ensure diverse and authentic representation for every child.

  1. Identify personal intersectionality and the role of cultural humility in fostering an empathetic therapeutic relationship in play therapy.

Attachment in the Playroom (Recorded Training)  6 Hours  ( 4 Hours Skills/Methods  & 2 Hours Special Topics)  

          Attachment is the foundation in which healthy relationships, positive sense of self, and overall healthy well being rests. Children who develop insecure attachment patterns have a higher risk of participating in unhealthy habits or unhealthy relationships that can be harmful. Participants will explore the world of Attachment in Play Therapy through the theoretical lens of Adlerian play therapy to create change for children who demonstrate insecure attachment patterns. 
Objectives:
  1. Participants will describe the four foundations of attachment.
  2. Participants will identify the four attachment styles.
  3. Participants will discuss the rationale for implementing Attachment in Play Therapy interventions with children in the playroom struggling with an insecure attachment. 
  4. Participants will describe 3 impacts that divorce, death/loss, and family separation can have on a child's attachment to others. 
  5. Participants will describe 3 impacts that trauma, neglect, and emotional abuse can have on a child's attachment to others. 
  6. Participants will demonstrate 3 attachment focused techniques (rooted in Adlerian play therapy model) that can be implemented in the playroom.

​Cancellation and Refund Policy

Cancellations must be emailed, [email protected], at least 5 business days prior to training. Attendee has the option to transfer credit to another Playhouse training or accept a refund minus a cancellation fee of $25. 
Cancellations made less than 5 business days prior to training, are eligible for transferable credit to a Playhouse training of similar value. No refunds will be available. All refunds, minus the $25 cancellation fee, will be mailed 30 days after request.  
Should the presenter need to cancel training for emergency or inclement weather, participants will be notified via email, as soon as possible. Training will be rescheduled for a later date, in the event the subsequent date does not conform to the participant’s schedule, a full refund or credit (for future training) will be given.
